NFL Suspends Titans WR Kenny Britt One Game
It certainly could have been much worse. Considering that his arrest on July 20 was the eighth time since ’09 that Britt had been part of an incident involving the police, it would not have been out-of-character had Roger Goodell suspended him multiple games. Britt, though, will reportedly only miss one, meaning that as soon as his knees fully recover, he’ll be back on the field. From the Tennessean:
The NFL has suspended Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt for one game, according to sources familiar with the situation. Britt was summoned to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell twice in the past year after because of a string of off-field incidents involving the law. Titans officials were not immediately available for comment. The NFL did not immediately confirm the suspension. Britt recently said he would deal with any punishment he received from the NFL. He was recently removed from the Physically Unable to Perform list, clearing the way for him to practice with the team. Britt has been recovering from knee injuries. “Just another bump in the road, another pothole in the road that we’ve got to go over and smoothing that out,” Britt said last week. “That’s something I’m not putting in my head right now, just hoping to recover from these knee injuries.” Britt met with Goodell in New York on Aug. 6 to discuss a July 20 arrest for driving under the influence as he was trying to pass through a security gate at the Fort Campbell Army post. A court date has not yet been assigned. It was Britt’s eighth incident involving police since the Titans drafted him in 2009.
