CBS‘s Jim Nantz does a good job of explaining the rule in the video above (Albeit, it did seem to take the folks over at CBS a bit too long to inform us exactly what was going on, but hey, better late than never.) so we won’t explain it here. We’ll just say this: Yes, it may be dumb rule, but it’s still a rule nonetheless and it is inexcusable for an NFL coach to not know the rules—imagine inf a player cost his team a touchdown because he didn’t know the rules. How do you think a coach would react to that? Also, a similar thing happened last week with Mike Smith, which makes Schwartz seem even worse. As fans, though, the fact that we got to see this almost makes it all worth is.
